Mira Vista School Fitness Challenge - May 11 - 16

This is the time of year we usually look forward to getting together for two of our favorite Mira Vista community events, Walk-a-thon and Spring Dance. This year, we may be physically distant, but we can still bring our kids together to celebrate fitness and community.

We are excited to announce our 2020 virtual fit 'n fun Walk-a-thon/ Spring Dance week!! Starting next week on May 11, each day there will be a new fun fitness challenge for your kids to participate in.

All kids participating will be entered into a raffle for some great prizes, including a pair of tickets to Disneyland!!

The week will culminate on Saturday with a live streaming dance party, where we'll announce the lucky prize winners.  We would love to see pictures and videos of kids completing the challenges to share with their classmates throughout the week. Families and friends will also have the opportunity to support participating students by making donations through PledgeStar:https://pledgestar.com/miravista/. Donations will help to fund PTA-sponsored programs that will resume when we all return to school in the fall, such as art, music, field trips & events. We're looking forward to seeing our kids come together virtually to get fit and have fun!!

Teacher Appreciation Week

Dear Teachers,

Every student at Mira Vista will remember this school year and the teacher(s) they had. Your continued dedication to your classrooms has given each of your students an important sense of connection to you and to their classmates. These connections have been lifelines for many students. While you are grappling with your own health, the health of family members, and the herculean effort of transitioning your curriculum to distance learning, you have still shown up for our kids.  It is an inspiration to us when we feel overwhelmed. Thank you for all that you do.

Mira Vista Gardens

A big shout to the Mira Vista Gardening crew! Thank you for all of your work Ms. Rossi and Ms. Esther. Your plant give away has been a great success. It makes us all feel connected to the school community. Growing something that was started at our school is a unique gift that and it is one of those things that makes Mira Vista really special. If you have the chance, take a moment to talk to our garden educator, Esther Steele or better yet, ask your kids about her. She's a fantastic addition to our school's garden program.
