ANNOUNCEMENTS

What’s all the buzz about?

It's Walkathon season! We may be far apart, but our Mira Vista PTA and staff are busy working on ways to still bring kids together to celebrate fitness and community.

We're planning a virtual event for the week of May 11-16! Kids will be able to choose from different fitness challenges for a fun week of at-home physical fitness and school spirit.

The week will culminate in a live online event. More details coming soon!

Families and friends will also have the opportunity to support participating students by making donations through PledgeStar.com. Donations will help fund teacher grants, which teachers use on learning experiences for their students, as well as our many PTA expenses and extracurricular programs.

Stay tuned for more details!

Thank you to all who were able to attend the special PTA meeting last Thursday. It was wonderful to see your faces and to connect with our Mira Vista Hive. A special shout out to our staff and teachers who were able to attend.

We plan to have our next meeting in early May when we will hold our PTA election for 2020-2022 Executive Board members.

Nominees include:

Treasurer: Bryan Russell

Bryan Russell and his wife Elke are native Texans, relocating to California in 2010. After a 10 year career in the restaurant industry as a Controller and Manager,  Bryan transitioned to numerous other Finance and Management roles in the Food and Wine Industries, and most recently, as Global Inventory and Logistics Finance Manager for Bio-Rad, a Global Manufacturer of Life Science and Clinical Diagnostic Products, based in Hercules, CA.

Bryan and Elke have 2 daughters, Heidi, age 12, who will be entering 7th grade next fall, and  Emmeline, age 9, who will enter 4th grade at Mira Vista next year. They moved to the neighborhood in July 2016, after having been in various locations in the East Bay, and are very happy to have planted roots in the East Richmond Heights.

In closing, Bryan is  very excited to further participate in the Mira Vista PTA, and looks forward to bringing his experience in Finance, Operations, and planning to the community.

Financial Secretary: Guy Somberg Guy is new to Mira Vista – his daughter is in kindergarten – but he believes that a strong PTA is important.  He works as a video game programmer, an occupation whose required attention to detail will (hopefully) come in handy as financial secretary.  When he’s not making video games, Guy can be found reading, playing the flute, hiking, or playing video games. Secretary: Kirsten Meder Kirsten has a daughter in first grade and a son entering kindergarten in the fall.  She's active in the Mira Vista community through the silent auction, grants and garden committees.  She has a background in investment management and astronomy.

If your child is in band - please email Ms. Magid at magid@wccusd.net  to get the code for the Band Google Classroom. Thanks!
