If you have already acquired an instrument for your child, please make sure they bring it to their band classes starting this week (week of 9/30).
It will also be helpful if band students have the following band supplies:
Flute players: bring a small, thin absorbent rag. One quarter of a cotton bandana does a great job.
Brass players: bring an absorbent rag. A small hand towel, washcloth, dishcloth, or old T-shirt all do a great job. It will get very stained and dirty, so please don't bring a nice one.
If flute and brass players do not have a rag to bring, I will have rags available for 25 cents each.
All band members should bring a pencil and a folder to keep their band book and music in.
If students do not have a folder, they can buy a basic one from me for 25 cents or a fancy music one for $1.
The school will lend out band books, but students must keep them clean.
If you can provide your child with their own band book, they will be able to write in them, which is helpful for learning.
The band book is "Tradition of Excellence," volume 1, for [the instrument the student plays] by Bruce Pearson and Ryan Nowlin, published by Neil A. Kjos Music Company. They cost about $9 and are available online from the publisher and are stocked by most of our local music stores. Thanks, Jane Magid
