Mira Vista Families Fund

On behalf of the Mira Vista K-8 School in Richmond, the Mira Vista office staff are raising money for a relief fund to help families in need during this time of crisis.

We have set an initial goal of $2,500, and may adjust this depending on need. Our friends at GO Public Schools have graciously helped us to kick off this fundraising event with a cash grant of $500. Please help us to add to this, so that we can help our children and their families.

The ongoing coronavirus shelter-in-place has caused financial hardship to many of our MV families, and we are hoping to provide some basic necessities to help them through these hard times. Government assistance programs such as WIC/Food Stamps often prohibit the purchase of many crucial household items, including personal hygiene products. In addition, many of our families can't get government aid at this time.

With the money we raise, we will purchase and assemble household supply packs for volunteer staff to distribute to school families in need. The packs will include items like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, detergent, dish soap, feminine hygiene products, razors, toothbrushes, and, if necessary, food.  All of the money raised will go directly towards helping our MV families, and all expenditures from this fundraiser will be done transparently and announced via fundraiser updates.

We hope to be able to fund a continuing project that may last through the summer months, depending on the evolving circumstances. As it appears the economic impact of this situation may last for some time, we encourage you to consider donating more than once, or even monthly.

Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support,

Alma, Adela and Marilyn
