Get those books ready — Read-a-thon starts today!
The Read-a-thon kicks off on Wednesday, September 15! Starting today, and continuing through the night of October 1, students should track their daily reading on a reading log — and invite sponsors to donate money in support of their efforts. At the end of those 17 days, they tally up all the minutes they read, and turn in their logs. Prizes will be awarded to the students and classes that read the most minutes and the kids who get the most pledges!

• Visit your local public library! There are branches in Richmond, El Cerrito, and San Pablo.
• Purchase from a local independent bookshop, such as Berkeley’s wonderful Pegasus Books, which is an active supporter of Mira Vista’s PTA and a Read-a-thon sponsor.
