Artist of the Month – Moxie Evan

Be sure to check out our Artist of the Month, Moxie Evan, across from the teacher's lounge. Moxie is a senior in high school, and during the summer, she works at Brushstrokes, a paint-your-own pottery studio in Berkeley, teaching summer camp and assisting in the walk-in studio. Aside from her artwork, she plays basketball on the women’s varsity team at Albany High and enjoys photography, both film and digital. In addition, she sells crafts and hand-screen-printed tee shirts on Etsy.

Within her art practice, she loves exploring different materials and experimenting with surrealism. She participated in the Albany High School Advanced Showcase two years in a row at Abrams Claghorn Gallery, in Albany. This past summer, she was selected for the Emerging Artist’s program there. The program included a solo exhibition, where she displayed mixed-media paintings and ceramic pieces. At the same time, she attended the San Francisco Art Institute's Pre-college Art program to prepare for her future plans, which hopefully include attending college in Los Angeles and majoring in fine art.
